What is Astrology?

Astrology is a merging of opposites -- of spirituality and of science. Spirituality says that God is omnipotent, omnipresent, the life giving force within all things. And then, from science, we learn about the atom, an indestructible molecule that makes up everything in the universe. Astrology is the acknowledgement that, if god is omnipotent, then that power has to exist everywhere – in us as individuals, in the great oceans of the earth and in the stars within our universe. And if God is All that there is, then that means that the power within us is the same as the power within the most distant star in our galaxy. Spiritually speaking, astrology is the recognition of this power, of this interconnectedness of all things. Astrology acknowledges that everything that exists is only the multifaceted expression of One God.

And from science, we have the atom. All atoms are the same. All atoms are identical. The same atoms that exists within your computer exists within your arm. They are just arranged differently. The arrangement produces different energy configurations. We are all energy. We have all felt an elecrical shock from a TV at one time. We have all felt the melody of a song vibrating within our own body. Everything is energy. In fact, the atom is one of the smallest measurements of energy. If small molecules of energy are the building blocks of all things, then all things must be energy! Scientifically speaking, astrology is the study of how the energy emitted from the solar system impacts the earth and earth’s inhabitants.

The reason that you can feel someone’s “vibe” is because they are emitting an energy signal about who they are. You all have experienced a time when you just didn’t vibe with someone. They did not say or do anything to you, but you just got this bad “feeling” whenever they came around. This vibe is an electromagnetic force felt between two people. When you have a bad vibe it is because that person’s electromagnetic field is very incompatible with yours. All living things are surrounded in this magnetic field (see diagram below), including the earth .Just as we as humans pick up vibes from other humans, the earth picks up vibes from other planets. If you do not think that this is possible, please consider the sizes of the planets. Mercury, which is the smallest of the planets, is 3032 square miles. If you have ever been standing on a sidewalk when a really big truck drove past, you can feel it. Because the truck was so big, you were affected by its movement. Now imagine an object 3,000 times larger than any truck, moving at a speed of at 30 miles per second. A body this big is going to be giving off some serious energy!

The earth is multifaceted, just like us. If you are in a peaceful mood, a very aggressive person may give you a “bad” vibe, whereas if you are in the midst of a fight and could use a little assistance, this same aggressive person will give off good vibes. You will be very welcome to see him indeed! The same with the earth. The earth may repel the energy of a certain planet in one hemisphere, and be attracted to that same energy in another hemisphere.

Because we all live on the earth, we are all affected by its moods, influences, and patterns. Since the planets have an electromagnetic affect on the earth, they have an electromagnetic affect on us as well. A perfect, and well-known example can be provided by the moon (which is called a planet in astrology). We all know that the moon is directly responsible for ocean tides. A full moon has a different affect on the ocean than a gibbous moon. A gibbous moon has a different affect than a new moon. And we have also witnessed, usually first-hand, how the moon affects our emotional nature. It is a proven fact that a full moon brings out the craziness in people! This is because the moon affects not only the water on the earth’s surface, but also the water within our bodies! Of course, at any give time, there are some parts of the ocean that is experiencing a low tide and some parts of the same ocean experiencing a high tide. This being said, the moon is going to be affecting people differently, depending on where they are located in the world.

Astrology measures the exact position of the planets at your time of birth to see how you were vibing with the energy fields of the planets. Remember the earth is extremely multifaceted (just like you!). Some parts of the earth are more attracted to a certain planet. Other parts of the earth may be repelled by, or feel a “bad” vibe towards the same planet . Some people are the same way. Because of their nature, they will experience the energy of certain planets in a very positive way, and the energy being emitted from another planet in a very negative way. These energy configurations affect all of us, because they all affect the earth. Whatever affects the earth affects us. Now astrology, as a science, measures the type of electromagnetic influence that was being exerted on you at your time of birth. This is going to be determined by where you were born (Remember, these energies affect different regions of the earth differently), and when you were born. If you look at an ephemeris, you will see that the planets are shifting and impacting the earth from a slightly different angle every moment. To this day, a farmer’s almanac is published that informs farmers on where and how the planets will be aligned on a certain day. This is because farmer’s know, from experience, that the alignment of the planets can have a positive, or negative, effect on their harvest. By knowing when and where you were born, an astrologist can calculate the exact contact between your energy and the planetary energies, at your time of birth. This contact forms a type of stamp, determining if you will go through life being more sensitive towards beauty and love or war and aggression, possibilities and dreams, or structure and limitations.

In scientific terms, astrology is the study of the type of electromagnetic force being exerted on you by the solar system at your time of birth. In spiritual terms, astrology is the the understanding that we are all one. We are all connected.

You are a very important part of the universe with a very important role to play. Living in line with your purpose is what maintains the balance for the whole world, the whole solar system, the whole universe

How Astrology Works?

. In this particular solar system, atoms are arranged to produce: water, air, matter and fire. Everything that exists in this solar system is a combination of these four arrangements. Some things are made of mostly air (such as various gasses: oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc.), some things are made of mostly matter (rocks, skyscrapers), some things are made of mostly water (oceans, lakes, bleach) and some things are made of mostly fire ( lava, electricity). The human body is a combination of all four: matter (body), water (blood and other fluids within your body), air (breath) and fire (metabolism and other chemical reactions). Now from spirituality, we learn that everything is interconnected because everything is a part of God. Through science we learn how this interconnectedness happens – through the atom. The four atom arrangements that make up everything in this physical universe does not stop at the borders of the earth, but applies to the entire solar system that we live in. The entire universe is a combination of matter, water, air and fire. The earth is the only planet within our solar system that has a perfect blend of all four. The other planets (and the moon and sun) are all more heavily influenced by one, two or even sometimes three of the four. Mars is very dry and rocky with little water. Neptune is very light and gaseous – a big ball of blue air! Now these four energy arrangements have their own special properties. Fire, as most of us have experienced, can be very violent and destructive. Since fire is an inherent part of our solar system’s make-up, we can see that fire is not negative, but necessary. The violence and destruction produced by fire, then, is also not negative, but necessary. Forest fires, as much as they are feared, are a vital part of the ecosystem. Among other things, forest fires release nutrients present in forest litter that would otherwise decompose very slowly. Volcanic lava releases some healthy gases, including carbon dioxide and hydrogen. When oxygen mixes with this hydrogen, it creates water vapor and that begins to the water cycle. Fire, as we all know, also has a very warming effect. It protects us from the cold and provides light against darkness. The sun is an embodiment of all the positive effects of fire.The same thing goes for matter, air and water. They each have their own special properties.

Zodiac signs simply measure these basic elements. There are three water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, three fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, three earth (matter) signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn and three air signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Water signs tend to have the properties of water: Air signs tend to have the properties of air: These basic elements within us are apart of the earth, and therefore not necessarily affected by the earth. Rather they are affected by the planets surrounding the earth. Take the moon, again. Everyone is made up of roughly 70% water. A person who is a cancer or a scorpio does not have more water in their bodies than the rest of us. It is just that an outside planetary influence is having a heavy impact on their water-body. If you could measure the water within a person who is a water sign, you would be able to detect very extreme fluctuations, just like the tides of the ocean. This is a very simplistic explanation, but hopefully, it gives you a basic understanding of how astrology works within the individual.
